The first episode of 老板不下班 (Boss Never Off) has officially aired — and I couldn’t be happier with the response. Featuring Nick Ng, founder of Hock Kee Kopitiam, the episode recorded an impressive 862K TV viewers (excluding online views on Tonton). It’s an encouraging start for the series and a sign that heartfelt entrepreneurial stories still resonate deeply with Malaysians.

Hock Kee’s journey wasn’t an easy one. The brand went through multiple crises and even came close to bankruptcy, but Nick never gave up. He believed that if you keep doing the right things, good results will follow — and he proved himself right. Today, Hock Kee is on track to open 25 branches nationwide by the end of this year.

Before filming, I met Nick twice in person. I’ve always believed that building trust with interviewees helps them open up more naturally on camera. Through our conversations, I got to see how he genuinely cares for his staff and customers — and that authenticity became the heart of the episode’s storytelling.

A strong beginning for Boss Never Off, and I hope the upcoming episodes will continue to spread positive energy and inspiration to everyone watching.
